Preparation for Battle
Jesus said “The evil one has never been truthful. He doesn’t know what the truth is. Whenever he tells a lie, he’s doing what comes naturally to him. He’s a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44
A little over three years ago, I found myself in unfamiliar territory. A warzone to be exact. Somehow it doesn’t surprise me that I am here, again, but in a different story. I certainly believed that by now the adversary would have raised his devious white flag surrendering to my resilient faith. No, it corroborates he will surface again, at any given time, and without warning. It’s an opportunity for the enemy to cash in on our weaknesses.
Again, I find myself in the line of fire on an “all too familiar territory.” The enemy’s tactics are different with each of us, and he will do all within his power to lure you off the path of strength. Even though God does not necessarily offer you instant solutions, you must place your faith and trust in Him. You need to put on the full Armor of God to shield your heart from the enemy. We are not hiding from the enemy, we are not lurking in the shadows of this world, and we are not wondering around in darkness without a clue as to where we are going. However, it’s a greater opportunity to know Scripture and firmly take charge with God’s armor.
Our battle is an open affair and there is no mistake when someone shares with me that Christianity is difficult. Christianity is not a playground; it’s a battlefield. As Christians, we are not free from temptations, setbacks, pain and challenges. When we are faced with spiritual warfare, the enemy is determined to keep this world in darkness, pain and doubt.
Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Ephesians 6:13
God never tells us in His Word to live with anxiety and stress about the intensity of the battlefield. He reminds us to always stay alert. We are to know who we are, know who the enemy is, know who God is, and know where to stand on the battlefield. If self-control has been established first, we can go into battle with our protection firmly in place. Our armor and weapons are our answer to the assaults we face daily.
Never give the enemy legal rights to your freedom, Galatians 5:1
When you place on the armor, God becomes your hiding place and your shelter in the storm. Hidden in Him, you can count on His victory, for He not only covers you as a shield, He also fills you with his life. Just because you do not see anything happening doesn’t mean God is not working in your life.
In the weeks that follow, our SMCW bloggers will identify and share with you the complete attire of God’s armor. We must firmly take charge with the Belt of Truth, Shield of Faith, Helmet of Salvation, Breastplate of Righteousness, Sword of the Spirit and Gospel of Peace… your best offense and your best defense against the enemy’s strategies.
You are the closest to your victory when you face the greatest opposition… so dress up in His armor and take charge! Ladies, we can do this!
