Be Bold!

I want to be a woman who overcomes obstacles by tacking them in faith instead of tiptoeing around them in fear.    Renee Swope

I do not like my 2016 word. I am scared of the word and I can feel myself trembling in my boots when I still myself to ponder the significance of being BOLD.

It could have been FEARLESS.  It could have been RISKY.  It could have been COURAGEOUS. All those words have been populating my prayers for the last 2 years as the Lord has been nudging me outside of my comfort zone.

I like my comfort zone. Life is easy in my comfort zone. I know my boundaries in my comfort zone.  My "people" populate my comfort zone.  I am the "queen" of my comfort zone and God has dicided that I am way too comfortable in this cocoon of "my" zone because it is not His zone.

A very wise, much younger, woman wrote: "You are afraid of doing hard things because you are afraid of surrendering your whole life to Me.  You don't want to relinquish control because you don't fully believer that My best for you is worth the risk.  And this year,  you must decrease and I must increase so open your hands."

I am not sure how Lori Harris knew what feelings were stirring in me when she wrote these words, but they burned my heart for they exposed my fears.

God has been “doing a number” on me for several months, if not a year, and He will not let me wiggle out of His grasp. He is insisting that I be BOLD in my faith.  He has decided to make me so uncomfortable that I am forced to leave my “zone” and venture out into places that are down right scary. 2 Corinthians 3:12 says that “since we have such a hope, we are very bold” or “we act with great confidence”.

C. S. Lewis wrote: “Only a real risk tests the reality of a belief.” And in my timid eyes, I am taking a risk that only God can see me through, but each day I will be reminded of my boldness and the hope that never fails or unravels me."

Isaiah 41:10 reassures me:

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.  Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you.  I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

So I hold onto that thread of hope, that “green hope” that fills me up with peace that I don’t understand but so faithfully cling to.

"It is time for us to stop walking in fear and to start running in faith" -  Christine Caine.

So I will be BOLD!
